Straight answers about in-home aged care

Choosing care for someone you love is rarely a straightforward decision. Most families come to us with the same handful of questions: what does in-home care actually involve, how does the funding work, and how do I know I am choosing the right provider? This blog exists to answer those questions plainly — without jargon, and without pressure.

Highfield Care provides in-home aged care across Noosa and the Sunshine Coast. We deliver Support at Home and private care in people's own homes, from regular help around the house through to daily personal care. Government-funded care is administered by registered aged care providers we work with, while Highfield Care provides the care itself.

Every guide here is written to be genuinely useful, whether or not you ever become a client. If you would rather just talk something through, we are always happy to answer questions with no obligation.

Frequently asked questions

What is Support at Home?

Support at Home is the Australian Government's in-home aged care program, which funds care delivered in your own home rather than in a residential facility. Eligibility and funding levels are assessed through My Aged Care. For Highfield Care clients, that funding is administered by a registered aged care provider, while Highfield Care delivers the day-to-day care.

Can I arrange in-home care without government funding?

Yes. Many of our clients arrange care privately, either while they wait for an assessment or because they would prefer not to go through the funding process at all. A private arrangement gives you direct control over the type and frequency of support.

Where does Highfield Care provide services?

Highfield Care delivers in-home care across Noosa and the wider Sunshine Coast — Caloundra and Birtinya through Maroochydore, Nambour and Coolum, and up into the hinterland at Buderim, Montville and Maleny. If you are unsure whether we cover your suburb, get in touch and we will tell you straight away.

How do I get started?

Usually it starts with a conversation. Call Highfield Care on 07 5228 3612 or send an email, and we will talk through your situation, explain the funding pathways that apply to you, and set out what the next step looks like — with no obligation.
